Vacancy: Academic employee to the Danish Embassy in Madrid

The Danish Embassy in Madrid is looking for a committed and analytically strong academic employee

The Danish Embassy in Madrid is looking for a committed and analytically strong academic employee. You will become a part of the Policy- and Public Diplomacy (PD) team. You will work closely together with the embassy's management and will be responsible for a number of tasks both in relation to policy (EU sector areas and Spanish domestic policy - approx. 75%) as well as communication and Public Diplomacy (approx. 25%). You will independently represent Denmark at certain meetings in Spanish ministries and think tanks.

The embassy places great importance on openness, cooperation and well-being while offering a dynamic workplace with independent responsibility and varied tasks. The position gives you the opportunity to strengthen your insight and knowledge about the EU, from a capital city that has become increasingly important in European policy after Brexit. In addition, you will gain a unique insight into Spanish politics in the wake of the general election on 23 July 2023.

Assignments

  • Political analysis of Spanish domestic- and EU policy and responding to instructions from Danish authorities.
  • Participating in EU-briefings and contributing to the expansion of the embassy's network in Spain.
  • Press- and media management with responsibility for the embassy's website and SoMe channels.
  • Presentations about the embassy's tasks and Spanish society.
  • Ad hoc-tasks, including support to the consular section in crisis situations.

Qualifications

  • Ability and willingness to take responsibility and deliver results of high professional quality in a busy and exciting work environment.
  • Relevant higher education degree at Master's level with good results (e.g. social sciences or humanities).
  • Strong analytical skills and diligence in case presentation. Experience from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Danish central administration - e.g. through internships or student jobs - would be an advantage, but not a requirement.
  • Knowledge of Spanish/Danish society.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both orally and in writing, and proficient in one of the Scandinavian languages.
  • Experience with external communication such as social media and good IT-skills.
  • Collaborative orientation, flexibility and networking skills.
