Invitation to press tour for Spanish media prior to the Spanish State Visit to Denmark

The press tour is planned to take place between 24 and 26 October 2023 with a total duration of 2½ days*. All travel, accommodation and local transport will be covered and organized by the Danish Foreign Ministry. The participants will cover their own food and drink expenses.

The press tour will take place prior to the State Visit of Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain to Denmark from 6 to 8 November 2023. The comprehensive program will include a unique opportunity for a press meeting with a Danish minister (tbc), in addition to a meeting with the Lord Chamberlain and Director of Communications from the Danish Royal Court.

The relations between Denmark and Spain have been strong for years, and now the bilateral cooperation is of increasing importance to Denmark – both politically and commercially.

A corner stone in Danish-Spanish cooperation is the green transition, where both countries are pioneers. In a meeting between the Danish and Spanish Prime Ministers 2 March 2023 in Copenhagen a declaration on green energy cooperation was signed. The declaration emphasizes common goals of ensuring clean, secure and affordable energy in the EU, while highlighting the importance of renewable hydrogen. The press tour will therefore focus on Denmark’s stronghold on the green transition, and the various elements of this transition.

The attendance of press tour will be limited and it may not be possible to accommodate everyone who is interested in the visit. It is the aim of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark to ensure a composition of journalists that would represent the diversity of the Spanish media and include both visual, online and printed media organizations. The language of the press tour will be English and translation will not be provided.

Please include a brief introduction of your media, information about participants (max. 2 per media), stories publication plans, and other information that may support your application.

The selected members of Spanish media will be invited to a briefing before departure, where the Danish Ambassador to Spain will give a general introduction to Denmark and the press tour.

*Departure from Madrid will be 24 October.
